what you can get from this video?
This video covers the pros and cons of fabric laser cutter and oscillating knife cutting CNC machine. Taking some examples of various apparel and industrial textiles fields from our MimoWork Laser Clients, we show the actual laser cutting process and finishing comparing with cnc oscillating knife cutter, helping you to choose an appropriate machine to enhance production or start a business in terms of fabric, leather, apparel accessories, composites, and other roll materials.
Multi-layer Cutting:
Both CNC cutters and lasers can handle multi-layer cutting. A CNC cutter can cut up to ten layers of fabric at once, but the cutting quality may be compromised. Physical contact with the material can cause edge wear and imprecise cutting, requiring additional finishing steps. On the other hand, laser cutting provides incredible precision, intricate designs, and perfect edges for multi-layer cutting. While lasers cannot cut ten layers simultaneously, they can easily handle up to three layers.
FAQ:Which fabric materials are suitable for multi-layer laser cutting?
Fabrics that melt and create cohesion during the cutting process, such as those containing PVC, are not recommended. However, materials like cotton, denim, silk, linen, and synthetic silk yield excellent results. Additionally, materials with a GSM range of 100 to 500 grams are ideal for multi-layer laser cutting. Keep in mind that fabric characteristics may vary, so it's wise to conduct tests or consult laser cutting professionals for specific fabric suitability.
How do we handle material feeding?
Enter our multi-layer auto feeder. Our feeder solves alignment challenges by securely holding two to three layers in place, eliminating shifting and misalignment that compromise precise cuts. It ensures smooth, wrinkle-free feeding for seamless and hassle-free operation. While most applicable materials should work fine, for ultra-thin materials that are both waterproof and windproof, the air pumps may not fix and secure the second or third layers. Therefore, an additional covering layer might be necessary to secure them onto the working area.
Since we have not encountered this issue with our customers, we cannot provide accurate information. Feel free to conduct your own research on this matter. Typically, we recommend customers dealing with ultra-thin materials to increase the number of laser heads.
Regarding increasing the number of laser heads:
Compared to the average speed of CNC cutters at around 100mm/s, laser cutting machines can achieve actual speeds of 300-400mm/s. Adding more laser heads further increases production speed. Additionally, having more laser heads reduces the required workspace. For instance, a laser machine with four laser heads working simultaneously is as efficient as four machines with only one laser head. This reduction in machinery quantity does not sacrifice efficiency and also reduces the need for operators and manual labor.
Is having a total of eight laser heads the key to speed enhancement?
More is not always better. Safety is crucial to us, so we have implemented special features to prevent unintended collisions between laser heads. For cutting complex patterns like sublimated sportswear, a combination of multiple vertically working laser heads can greatly improve efficiency. On the other hand, if you are dealing with horizontally placed patterns like teardrop flags, fewer laser heads with a horizontal axis movement style might be your secret weapon. Finding the perfect combination is key to achieving efficiency goals. Feel free to ask us any questions regarding this through the provided links, and we will follow up on your requests as soon as possible.
But wait, there's more! With a laser cutter, conveyor table, auto feeder, and extension collecting table, your cutting and collecting process becomes seamless and uninterrupted. As one pass finishes cutting, the next pass can be prepared and cut while you collect the already cut pieces. Downtime becomes a thing of the past, and machine utilization reaches its maximum potential.
High-Value Production Upgrades:
For enthusiasts of single-layer fabric laser cutters, we haven't forgotten about you! We know that delivering high-added-value products is your focus. When working with materials like Kevlar and Aramid, every inch of material counts. That's where our laser cutting software, MimoNEST, comes in. It analyzes your parts intricately and positions laser cutting files on your fabric, creating optimal layouts that make the most efficient use of your resources. Plus, with the inkjet extension, marking happens simultaneously with cutting, saving you time and effort.
